My name is Melissa Pettavino and I am the owner and Physical Therapist for Innovative Suit Therapy and Fitness. Innovative Suit Therapy and Fitness was opened in 2009. This is the only therapy center in the area to offer pediatric and adult therapy services with the use of the TheraSuit and the Universal Exercise Unit. We also offer traditional physical, occupational and speech therapy to pediatric patients and adults with neurological impairments of all ages. We are also a provider for Early Steps.

The TheraSuit is a soft dynamic proprioceptive orthotic. It is FDA registered and currently utilized in over 50 different clinics and hospitals in the United States and other countries (including some Easter Seals and Children’s Hospitals).TheTheraSuit provides proprioceptive joint input and helps to correct postural alignment. It also re-trains the central nervous system by improving overall balance and posture with all functional activities. The Universal Exercise Unit is a unique piece of equipment designed to increase strength and flexibility with the use of pulleys, weights and elastic cords. It also allows for a patient to sit or stand with a belt and bungee cords allowing more functional movement. The goal of the “cage” or exercise unit is to promote independent movement.

Fine and gross motor skills improve in 94% of patients. Also, speech productivity and fluency improves in 64% patients. The increase in these skills ultimately leads to increased balance, coordination and independence in daily functional skills such as sitting, standing and walking.
